I just couldn't resist the headline. This Monica does not wear a blue dress, but she may help to bring down her boss.

"I didn't mean to break the law," seemed to be the line of the day for Monica Goodling as it was repeated often in her testimony to congress today.

Her only experience since graduating from one of the lowest ranking law schools in the country, was at the Republican National Committee before she was hired at the Justice Department to interview future civil rights judges, supposedly non-political appointments.

Did she know the law before she started her job as a lawyer who job it was to know the law? Is it possible she didn't intend to ask applicants about their political affiliations?

But I didn't mean to:

  • eliminate people as soon as she identified them as not having voted for Bush.
  • delay or stop the hiring of many on the basis of their party membership.

I don't recall:

  • if I received any emails from Karl Rove.
  • if I was instructed to specifically avoid anyone who is not a Bush Crony.

Monica Goodling is a perfect example of how the administration hires people with no other qualification than sworn, blind loyalty to the President instead of the people.

I will leave to you to determine if this lawyer exercises "ignorance of the law". I just have to ask the obvious question, are lawyers supposed to have poor memories?

This would be funny except that it was too painful.

If good lawyers are all bad people, are all bad lawyers good people?

What a story. Blond, beautiful, and blind as a bat......... but faithful,
however, to the wrong constituents. How has this
come to be in America?

I would love to see Hightower get a hold of this if he hasn't already.

So, we have loyal subjects appointed to official duties, for example this Ms. Monica, in the Department of Justice, who don't even know what the laws are that govern their official conduct. Hail to the Chief and screw the nation!

It seems like everybody from king GW down in this administration don't know what they are doing.

C'Mon... Are we supposed to believe she didn't know.

Get a clue people, we all know why she was hired and exactly what she was expected to do, and she did that.

Being a lawyer, it is her job to know the laws. She knew it, there is no doubt. She is covering for her handlers.

Another puppet of the Rove Control Scheme

Partisan politics has reached a new High (low) with this debacle. They're throwing the lowest ranking to the wolves, I see.
