Who Does Bush Represent? The American Monarchy

Recently, in an interview with Jon Stewart on the Daily Show, Ex Ambassador to the UN John Bolton defended Bush as representing those people who elected him. Without immediate confrontation of the asinine implications of Bolton's statement, Stewart just sloughed him off... for the moment. The following night, Stewart, with the assistance of a well known Lincoln scholar, skewered Bolton by suggesting he had no clue that America is and has been a diverse country that must be fully represented. Said Stewart, "I didn't realize the President was only the President of those who voted for him."

This Presidency has been guilty of the worst arrogance in American history, the lowest approval ratings yet the absolute tenacity as if supported by fact and principle. Clearly, his only principle is that he will do what he wants to do until stopped and he will stop the efforts of others no matter how clear their mandate from the American citizens. For a man whose initial election was far from a mandate and probably an outright coup, Bush acts as if he owns America and that the citizens work for him.

Time after time, I sit by assuming yet one more clear sign of his failed Presidency would clue him in on the necessity for compromise, yet he gives the finger to the people every day, as if "mooning" us, like a smart ass teen.

I would go down the laundry list of his failures but there aren't enough bits and bytes on all of America's computers to store much less explain how and why this has happened or even to count the failures themselves. Yet, the lumpen bourgeoisie continue to pretend just because they have power, they should have it. It is this same arrogance that preexisted the French revolution and we see what happened to the rich in that bloody era.

How does an American demand a responsive President? Simply saying, "wait for the next election" is not enough. It is time for the congress to sit as unmoved as Bush on this immediate issue of the war that Bush has lost long ago.

For him to suggest the congress is micromanaging him is his greatest arrogance, as he forgets this is a "government of the people." Of course, he continues to rant that the "terrorists" will follow us home, but what has stopped them from following us so far; a secure border? He says if we leave, Iraq will erupt into unacceptable civil war and will fall into the hands of Iran. Anyone that knows the independence of the Iraqi people also knows this would be as likely as Russians marching into the US and Americans laying down their arms.

Mr. Bush acts as if the Iraqis are children, who without his qualified guidance, would simply kill and die. He patronizes the elected government of Iraq and they just laugh behind closed doors, as they have waited out foes greater than him, for periods greater than any culture has ever endured. They are patient people and they will outlive Bush unless he does the only thing that could win such a war, to commit genocide of those he believes he has conquered. This I fear but I can only live in hope that this is where our military would draw the line.

Now, we watch the biggest buffoon in the history of the Attorney General's office, as he attests to his poor memory, reason enough to consider him deserving of firing, if true, treasonous if false. Today, Gonzales (video) addressed the nation regarding the shooting in Virginia, as if he is one from whom we wait with bated breath for a solution to our violent criminal culture.

Finally, we see the unfolding Blackwater (mercenary soldiers) story. We become aware that not only are there private consultants for "reconstruction" but there are more than 100,000 private guns for hire that don't even fall under the supervision of our military apparatus. Basically, from what we can tell, these soldiers are there to drive taxis for death squads.

When I say these things to my students, they say "represent". Well, I say the same to our elected representatives. It is time to draw the line and to stick to the citizen's principle's instead of our self-appointed King George.

Great Article, although, the Author stated that Bush treated the American people as his employees as if we are a Fee people,... the fact is that we are his employees,.... see the Movie "From Freedom to Facsism" by Arron Russo.

All will become clear,... have a barf bag ready.

You name-calling Democrats. If you don't like our President then you should have put someone worthy up against him. I vote for the person, not the party. We need someone who has strength against those who threaten the safety of Americans. We are so fortunate to live in this country. My father gave his life for this country and defended it until his final breath. America should never go down without a fight. So have your opinion, but to name call our leader on the world wide web is disrespectful not only to him but the people who follow his orders in defending all of us.

The question is this: How many times have we been attacked since 9/11? How many terrorists have walked in to a shopping center in this country and blown themselves up since we demolished the homeland for the terrorists in Iraq & Afghanistan?
You idiots who are always crying about life needing to be fair, and feeling as though we are ruled by a king need to get your damned heads out of your a%$#@. You should realize that these people who we are trying to keep from reorganizing, and attacking us again, are the ones we are fighting now.
We also need to attack Iran, and destroy North Korea's insane leadership AND both country's nuclear capabilities.
If you tree hugging fools would let our country use it's OWN oil resourses, instead of trying to save a bunch of worthless animals in Alaska, and our own coast, we wouldn't have to be in the middle east to begin with. I guess you'll have to wait until the war comes home to realize what a great president, and military we now have. You liberals have never been in touch with reality.

Great article! I often wonder if we Americans are lethargic or blind in relations to the problems that are affecting our Nation. The gas price for instance never stops going up and no one seems to say or do anything about it. The major News Network in the Nation is worse than Brazilian Globo Television that occupies most of its air time with soap operas. You turn the TV expecting some informative news, and what do get, the glamorizing of Seung-Hui Cho’acts, the never ending saga of Nicole Smith, Your Calls On YouTube, etc……………and by the way, is President Bush, the president of Iraq or of the United States?

Blaming Bush for anything more than "mismanaging the matrix" defines us as naive and unintellectual at best. Like Roosevelt before him, Woodrow Wilson regarded himself as the personal representative of the people. "No one but the President," he said, "seems to be expected ... to look out for the general interests of the country." He developed a program of progressive reform and asserted international leadership in building a new world order. In 1917 he proclaimed American entrance into World War I a crusade to make the world "safe for democracy." This was the origin of the modern role of the President of the US, where global politics and finance becomes the primary driver of the government. You can see that we now exist in a "Matrix" of contrived imagery that seduces us with the fantasy that wealthy politicos both care about and exist under the same reality as the voters. Look at the top eight shareholders of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and ask who is in charge.

so what makes you capable of judging what " the people " want? do you remember 9/11? when that happened EVERYBODY wanted the perpertrators punished, EVERONE except those who want the USof A to becme a 2nd class nation, far left liberals. bush has done a job so hard to do, you certainly could not do it, you get to sIt there and 2nd guess AFTER the fact, so your vision is perfect. if you had to do the job, you WILL make mistakes too, the border issue one of them. SO PLEASE DON'T THINK YOU HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS, BECAUSE YOU DON'T, NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Said one reader, "Do you remember 9/11?" Yes, I do and I believe it never would have happened if not for the arrogance of people like Bush.

Clinton did his best to distance America from its lunatic fringe who give us a bad name worldwide, but no one can hide that there is a "squeaky wheel" in America that demands it be oiled with blood... any blood will do.

Has your life really changed since the beginning of the war? I swear, I've noticed no difference. You complain of wire tapping but do you really believe he is on your phone? Do you really believe George will stay around after his term, because I fail to see the monarchy. I guess your options are oligarchy or monarchy. The dems sure have a plan to get out of iraq, but do they have a plan to stop Iran and the region wide proliferation that would follow? I guess you need the incentive of losing New York City first... And 419 billion dollars is it? I mean seriously, that's like 3% of are annual budget going to the war divided up into the span of the war. Where does universal health care fit in to that budget, or any of the other social programs. It's not the Iraq war sinking our treasury, it's the social and pork spending. The first and primary objective of the federal gov't is to create stability, foreign (army) and domestic (national gaurd). We should be able to finance 5 Iraq wars at once. It is up to each and every person to determine there own future. I don't think many democrats like to hear that it is their responsibility. They'd rathher the gov't decide for them.

I don't remember Bush being elected, he was appointed by some nuts in the Supreme Court!

President Bush represents me. A loyal American. In a true Monarchy the liberal left would be hung. Pelosi and Reid would be stood before a fireing squad and shot. Only in America do people have the right to air their opinions, no matter how ignorant they are. You call the Bush administration a Monarchy when in reality, George Bush represents free enterprise and the Democratic Party represents the new Communism alive and well in the good old USA.

For anonymous
We are becoming a second class nation as more of our industirial jobs are moved overseas. Remember "Nike"? How much cheaper will you tenny runners be? NOT MUCH! Someone made out but it wasn't the American Consumer. Call centers are all most all overseas now. Try to get you computer up and running. Its possible but it ain't easy. And there is onlyn one party rule in this country now. You can call it the Repubicrates are the Democans. Both parties are beholden to big business not the American John Q Citizen.

How is killing 100's of iraqi civilians everyday protecting america.did iraq ever attack us? did they send their troops 10000 miles across the world to kill american civiliians?
america keeps talking about korea and iran's nuclear abilities.let me remind you america is the only country in the world to have used nuclear power in amgression. think about it.

I did not vote for Bush. I did not vote Dem, either. I have been a Libertarian most of my adult life. It is the party that stands on the principles of the Constitution. That each of us are mature, responsible adults that do not need to have our rights or morality 'legislated' to us.

Bush lied to us... and yet America acts like they are suprized? Didn't it come out that he did cocaine a few years back? Everyone knows you can't trust a crack head... yet he managed to weasel his way into the White House... I still haven't figured out how he got re-elected.

Impeach Bush and Cheny, but do we really want Nancy Pelosi as President????

First of all, the Media is controlled not by George Soros, but by the likes of Rupert Murdoch, General Electric, Viacom and Disney-large corporations with much to gain from this presidency. That even the networks are beginning to reveal the audacities of this bumbling president shows that they have lost patience with him as well. Secondly, to state that since 9/11 that we have not been attacked is like saying that we haven't been buried by volcaninc ash either! Bush's intentional ignorance of facts pre-9/11, if anything, makes him as RESPONSIBLE for the attacks as BinLaden. The arrogance that he has shown in stating that only his party can protect America is like stating that only polar bears can protect salmon.

Anonymous 9:52am has the attitude that is the reason most of the world now distrust us. This president has managed to turn what few contries that did like us to shake their heads in disbelief and distain. Not only has the Bush Jr administration show total disregard for our UN allies and the world's legal system, but has totally taken what few freedoms we do have away. Torture, Spying on our mails and emails AND telephone without a warrant!! Secret prisons here and abroad. This is what we accused our arch enemy of the 50's, 60's and 70's the great evil USSR. Bush and Cheney are nothing less than war criminals themselves.

Bush is a liar and we live in a Republic, not a Democracy. "I pledge allegiance to flag of the republic..." Re-pub-lic. So what does that mean? It doesn't matter what the people want, they who control will make us believe anything they want by using covert languages and propaganda and whatever else it takes. The mere fact that we have social security numbers means that we are only fish. We have no rights, do the research. The income tax amendment was never "really" ratified by congress. So WTF? The only way any change is going to be made is if we, the people, decide to do it all at once. That will never happen. Why? The powers that be have everyone so distracted by this or subjugated by that, nobody has time to see the real picture, nor the energy to care. And as for you "right-wing republicans", it is you who bring shame and disgrace to our proud, beautiful country by beleaguring the truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me god. So f@#k you very much when you judge anyone who has the awareness to actually form their own opinions about our government. Will the meek inherit the earth? Not when we're incessantly suppressed by ignorant plutocracies. I could go on, but I won't. (Damn, I should be a journalist, or even President!)
